If you plan to take a CPW Firearm Safety Class to meet the SB25-003 requirements, please register for the correct course.
- If you have Hunter Education and CPW has verified it, you are eligible to take the 4-hour Basic Course.
- If you do not have Hunter Education and are over 50, you may take the test for Hunter’s Eductation through their website at https://cpw.state.co.us/activities/hunting/education-and-outreach
- If you do not have Hunter Education and don’t qualify for taking the Hunter’s Education test, you may also complete an online Hunter Education course through another state, such as Texas or South Dakota.
Before registering for the 4-hour Basic Course, make sure your Hunter Education has been verified by CPW. You must receive CPW verification before you are eligible for the 4-hour course.
Read the course description carefully and choose the correct option. “I didn’t realize I signed up for the wrong class” will not magically turn four hours into twelve.
Pick the Right Class — It Matters!
Already completed Hunter Education? Great! You can sign up for the 4-Hour Basic Course.
No Hunter Education? No problem — but you’ll need to register for the 12-Hour Extended Course.
Please double-check before you click that registration button. Picking the right class now saves everyone from playing the “Oops, I signed up for the wrong one” game later. 😉
